The UT Lady Longhorns should be heading into this week’s Big 12 Conference Tournament with some confidence, despite their sixth-place regular-season finish and No. 6 seed. After all, the Horns finished just a point out of second. And they’ve beaten first-round opponent Iowa State eight times in a row. That game was Wednesday night, after we went to press. If the Horns won, they’ll go against either Colorado or Oklahoma in the semifinal at 6:30pm Friday, Nov. 4. The conference championship game is 1pm Sunday, Nov. 6. It’s all at San Antonio’s Blossom Soccer Stadium, 12002 Jones-Maltsberger Rd., just north of the San Antonio airport.

St. Edward’s women host the 2005 Heartland Conference Tournament this week at the SEU Soccer Field. Semifinals are Thursday, Nov. 3: Montana-Billings vs. St. Mary’s, 11am; St. Edward’s vs. Incarnate Word, 2pm. The final is 1pm Saturday.

European Champions League game day four was this week; see “Soccer Watch Online.”

MLS Conference finals are this weekend: L.A. Galaxy at Colorado Rapids, 8pm Saturday, and Chicago Fire at NE Revolution, 2pm Sunday on ESPN2.
