The UT Lady Longhorns open their season at home this weekend. At first glance, it would look like a rebuilding year for the Horns: They graduated 10 lettermen (six of them starters) and have just two seniors on the entire roster. But the cupboard’s not exactly bare: Sophomore striker Kelsey Carpenter often looked like the best player on the field last year, and a young back line (the nine frosh include five defenders and two goalies) includes two defenders – Kasey Moore and Westwood High redshirt Stephanie Logterman – good enough to make this summer’s U.S. Under-20 National Team Training Camp. The Horns opened with two exhibition wins last weekend, including 2-1 at No. 21 Wake Forest. Now they host SMU (Fri., Aug. 26, 7:30pm) and Auburn (Sun., Aug. 28, 7pm), Mike Myers Stadium.
