The Austin Lightning thrashed New Orleans 4-1 last weekend, with 18-year-old Sonny Guadarrama scoring two goals for the second game in a row. The Lightning host the Memphis Express this Friday, before hitting the road for three games. Friday, June 3, 7:30pm at Noack Field, 5300 Crainway, just east of 183 and Springdale.
As not reported here last week, Liverpool came back from a 3-0 halftime deficit to stun AC Milan on penalty kicks, and claim the UEFA Champions League title, in a game widely touted as the best championship game ever played.

Now the national teams take over, with some 75 World Cup Qualifiers being played June 4-8, on all five continents (sorry, Australia and Antarctica don’t count here). The U.S. hosts Costa Rica in Salt Lake City, Sat., June 4, 6:30pm on ESPN2. Then it’s U.S. at Panama, Wed., June 8, tape-delayed at midnight on ESPN2. A few other games will be on Spanish-language TV; ESPN Deportes is showing a Euro doubleheader on Saturday: Portugal-Slovakia at 5pm, and Holland-Romania at 7pm.
