The UT women struggled last weekend to split two overtime games – 3-2 at Texas Tech and 1-2 at Baylor – that they won 7-0 and 4-0 last year at home. The Horns will have to improve in their homecoming this weekend, against teams they lost to three times last year – Oklahoma at 7pm Friday, Oct. 1, and Oklahoma State at 3pm Sunday, Oct. 3 – to avoid falling in a deep hole in a very strong Big 12 conference, and perhaps out of the national rankings. European Champions League game day two is under way at press time. Real Madrid has stormed back with four unanswered goals to stun Roma, 4-2, and perhaps breathe some life into what has been a dreary season thus far. Other games are ongoing as I write this item, but through the miracles of digital technology, the results, standings, and group analyses are already available at “Soccer Watch Online” as you read it.
