Two San Antonio colleges – Incarnate Word and Trinity – are No. 1 in the country this week, in NCAA Men’s Divisions II and III, respectively. Trinity’s women are ranked fifth, as well.

The UT women scored first, but the Aggies scored three in the second half in College Station Friday night to win the Big 12 conference opener. The Lady Horns host Tulane Friday night (Sept. 17, 7:30pm), before heading to Oregon for a Monday night game at Portland U.

St. Edward’s men and women are both at home this week; the women host Angelo State Fri., 5pm; East Central Oklahoma Sun., 1pm; and Texas A&M-International Wed., 3pm, before the men take on rival St. Mary’s, Wed., 5pm.

The European Champions League group stage kicked off this past midweek, with most of the big teams winning. Notable exceptions: Real Madrid got thumped, 3-0, at Bayer Leverkusen; and Roma may be in big trouble after their home game against Dynamo Kiev had to be abandoned (with the visitors leading 1-0) when the referee was hit with something thrown from the stands.
