Hello, and welcome to the start of Major League Baseball’s 2007 season. The Mets defeated the Cards last night, 6-1, in a rematch of the National League Championship Series, and there’s a whole buttload of action being televised today. As they like to say, on Opening Day everybody is tied for first. Try telling that to the fans in Tampa Bay and Pittsburgh. Tied for last is more like it. But since we here at the Score are fans of the Astros (Chris Gray, myself), Cardinals (John Razook, Shawn Badgley), and the Red Sox (John Hunt), we’ve got good reason to be hopeful. All three teams are in good position to make the playoffs and be fitted for those ever-elusive World Series rings. Look for much more commentary and trash talking on these three teams and MLB in general from now on through October, and read below for our picks for the ’07 campaign.
