Former Texas Longhorn Trey Hardee has regained the lead in the decathlon at the IAAF World Track & Field Championships in Berlin this morning.
Yesterday, he led the 10-event competition through the first three events, but slipped to third by the end of the day. This morning, he ran a blistering 13.86 in the 110 meter hurdles, a season’s best and much faster than his next closest competitor, and also had a season’s best in the discus, giving him a total of 6,334 points, with a solid lead over the 6,275 of Ukraine’s Oleksiy Kasyanov.
As I write this, he is currently contesting the pole vault; after that, the javelin throw and 1,500 meter run remain. You can watch the competition right now at www.universalsports.com.
