Former Hot Club of Cowtown violinist and vocalist Elana James will perform live following the UT’s women’s basketball game vs. Texas A&M Sunday, Jan. 21, 2pm at the Frank Erwin Center. UT is currently ranked 23rd while A&M enters the game ranked 19th in the country. The Lady Horns will also host Baylor Wednesday, Jan. 24 at 7pm.
Local Austin treasure Elana James has performed with Bob Dylan‘s band and hit the road in ’06 with Dylan, Jimmie Vaughan, and Junior Brown. The Hot Club of Cowtown disbanded in 2004 leaving James bandless and directionless. Luckily, invites to play fiddle on a Willie Nelson record and to join Dylan’s touring band reinvigorated James and kept her from applying for work at Target. James now has her own band, the Continental Two, featuring bassist Beau Sample and guitarist Luke Hill and they’ll bringin’ the swingin’ Sunday at the Drum.
