Remember Johnston High School? Well it’s now Eastside Memorial High School, and it’s started a lacrosse program in hopes of introducing the sport as a fun extracurricular activity for the largely Hispanic and African-American student population of the school and for the Eastside community in general. Coach Greg Weber‘s squad (playing as part of the LBJ team) consists entirely of East Austin kids, and this is the only highschool-sponsored tourney of the season. More than 12 JV and varsity teams representing six Central Texas high schools will take part in the all-day affair that will include more than 20 games on two fields. Sat., Oct. 30, 8am. Eastside athletic fields, 1012 Arthur Stiles Rd. Free.
