Three former Austin Aztex players – Yordany Alvarez, Maxwell Griffin, and Lawrence Olum – were picked up by MLS teams on the final day before the roster freeze.

Cuban midfielder Yordany Alvarez, this year’s USL PRO MVP after defecting from the Cuban U-23 national team three years ago, joined Real Salt Lake on loan. Sporting Kansas City signed Kenyan defender/midfielder Lawrence Olum, and forward Maxwell Griffin, rookie of the year here in Austin, and a proven scorer at every level he’s played, is headed to the San Jose Earthquakes.
