If there is any justice in this world – there usually isn’t – then Will Johnson will become as well-known for his painting as he is for his music. As a solo artist and member of Centro-matic, Monsters of Folk, and South San Gabriel, Johnson has forged a formidable music career, but also finds the time to explore visual art. Working in a folk-art style, his paintings focus on “baseball players and … old, long-gone stadiums.” Subjects range from Bret Boone to Roger Clemens to Arlington Stadium, which stopped hosting Rangers games in 1993.
