The day when Americans turned glassy-eyed at talk of Silurians and sonic screwdrivers is well past, now that fever for UK national treasure Doctor Who, that sweet space oddity, has decisively infected our shores. It is in fact “The Day of the Doctor,” the aptly named 50th anniversary special, which will be simulcast globally on Nov. 23 and feature all 11 doctors who’ve taken a trip in the TARDIS (well, some version of them, at least; a few have left this mortal coil). The special airs at 1:50pm CT on BBC America; two days later, select cinemas will screen the episode in 3-D, which seems apropos – the Doctor, after all, has passed some time in strange dimensions.

But the Whovian nation has cause to congregate even sooner, with a Geeks Who Drink Doctor Who-themed trivia night happening Saturday, Nov. 16. Taking place simultaneously in 20 U.S. cities, Don’t Blink: A Doctor Who Quiz will draw heavily from new Who, with a few “Easter eggs” from old-school, pre-reboot episodes sprinkled in. The Austin iteration will be held at Opal Divine’s Penn Field (3601 S. Congress) at 9pm; admission is first come/first served, with a $5 entry fee per player and a six-player limit per team.
