If you haven’t heard of Bill Lundberg yet, don’t worry. Chances are you will, and soon. Directly preceding his upcoming one-man “Perspectives” exhibition at Houston’s Contemporary Museum of Art, Lundberg brings his film and multimedia installation art forms to the Hideout Theatre and Coffeehouse on Saturday, Feb. 2. It’s Austin Cinemaker Co-op’s first screening salon of the year, which is surely a match made in matte-black heaven. Video and slide presentations will address “the psychology and complexity of social interaction,” and if that’s not enough for a hungover-art-student Saturday, the show will then move to the Blanton Museum of Art, where Lundberg’s “time/frame” exhibition is currently residing. A former Whitney Biennialist and the co-founder of the Transmedia program at UT’s Fine Arts Department, Lundberg is rightly revered among Austin’s media arts dwellers for his biting hybrids of conceptual and filmic art forms; this is your chance to see what all the fuss is about.
