“We got here and I said, ‘That’s great. No one else dressed up,'” says Austinite Eric Sparks. Indeed, only a few dozen of the World Faire attendees wore costumes. “I told him we had to be brave together,” says Alexis Garrett. Although they jokingly posed as a father and daughter for the day, the two are just friends. “My real birthday was August 6,” Sparks says, “and she threw a birthday for me online.”
