Program 4

The teenager is a mysterious thing here: Program 4 investigates the world of high schoolers and those who attempt to understand them. Michael Greene’s “Hey Mister” is a familiar story of three kids begging for beer and the power-hungry cop they encounter. Phillip Van’s hilarious “Dunny” – at only five minutes long – is a Gummo-like tale of a fat and angry kid doing a Stuart Smalley-esque impression that hits like a pie in the face. Eric Maierson’s “The Party” shies away from humor toward a disturbing chord of despondency and teenage-adult seduction. Those crazy kids. – D.S.
