KLRU, The Austin Chronicle, and South by Southwest have teamed up for SXSW Presents, an independent film series airing Fridays at 10pm on Channel 18 (Time Warner Cable Channel 9). Hosted and co-produced by SXSW Film producer Matt Dentler, the second season of the series runs through Dec. 2. This week’s installment is Andrew Garrison’s The Wilgus Stories, about which, when it screened at the festival in 2000, Senior Editor Kate X Messer wrote “this touching rural road triptych visits three crossroads in the life of Wilgus Collier (William Johnson), a young man coming of age in three different vehicles in Eastern Kentucky in the 1960s. … Wilgus presents hope and promise for the future. Beautifully shot, scored, and acted … by UT documentary film instructor Andrew Garrison, [the film] captures those delicious little junctions in life when our hearts take us any place other than where we are.” For more information, see www.klru.org or www.sxsw.com.
