It’s great to see that Wiley Wiggins is still getting work after his debut role as freshman Mitch Kramer in Dazed and Confused, although, 16 years later, he still hasn’t shed his baby-face looks. In Sorry, Thanks, he plays Max, the “already in a relationship” side of an affair with Kira (newcomer Miles). Sokol’s feature directorial debut follows the lives of Kira and Max, both thirtysomethings with a lot to still figure out about life. Kira is recovering from her recent breakup of a seven-year relationship while trying to win a job she’s overqualified for, as well as find her way in the world of dating – a place she has never dabbled in. And there’s Max, who can’t decide between Sara, the girl he has loved for the past three years, and the one-night stand that ironically and unintentionally keeps showing its face: at the bar, the movie theatre, parties, etc. Max and Kira’s conversations are as awkward as any blind date, seemingly more real-life than scripted, making Sorry, Thanks an intimate, engrossing watch.
