Lots of odds and ends here about Austin film community happenings, including Margaret Brown’s big win, how to take home a goat, and the search for a one-armed woman.

The Order of Myths, Margaret Brown’s terrific doc about the racial divide in Mobile, Alabama’s Mardi Gras celebrations, will receive a prestigious Peabody Award; prize givers called her film “highly original, moving and insightful.” The film, which screened as part of PBS’ Independent Lens and played at SXSW 2008, is available on DVD from Cinema Guild. Another SXSW alum, Still Bill, about legendary R&B singer Bill Withers, is getting a local screening plus tribute show at Momo’s outside deck at 8pm on April 3. The lineup includes Adam Rodgers, Margo Valiante, and Akina Adderley & the Vintage Playboys…

However, we are open to various looks.” Think you fit the bill? Send photos, measurements & contact information to texascasting2010@gmail.com…

And in related casting news, the Chronicle’s hirsute Calendar and gaming editor James Renovitch nabbed a featured extra role in the Old West-set production of True Grit. In preparation for the part, he’s gone method; fingers crossed he’ll finally shave and have a nice sudsy shower once production wraps. No, seriously: Fingers crossed…
