Friedkin’s taut thriller, which was largely underrated at the time of its 1977 release, has just recently been fully restored and remastered. Based on the novel, The Wages of Fear (which also inspired the revered French film of the same title), Sorcerer tells the story of four foreigners in a South American country who consent to drive a huge haul of highly explosive nitroglycerin over treacherous terrain.
