Tom Savini, the special-effects wizard behind most of George Romero’s creep-fests (Dawn of the Dead, Knightriders, Martin) and other gonzo horror gems (From Dusk Till Dawn) will be at the Alamo – in person – for this special celebration of his handiwork. Activities get underway at 9:30pm; at some point the Romero movie, Creepshow, and the William Lustig-directed Maniac will be screened. Among the other promised events are 1) Live onstage carnage, courtesy of Tom Savini; 2) Live, in person: William Lustig, director of Maniac and Maniac Cop, and managing director of Anchor Bay Entertainment/Video; 3) Live, in person: Tom Savini; 4) Surprise special guests; 5) Trailers of all the Savini classics; 6) 35mm screening of Creepshow; 7) 35mm screening of Maniac (from the personal collection of William Lustig); 8) Special surprise feature film screening; 9) Behind-the-scenes footage of the master at work.
