You know the Texas motel in Bottle Rocket where the three bumbling criminals hole up and Anthony falls in love with the comely housekeeper Inez? Yeah, that motel’s real, and it’s in real danger of closing.

A website called Reservoir Geeks has spearheaded efforts to save the motel, a Days Inn, in Hillsboro, Texas; the motel’s owner can no longer afford the franchise fees. Now the Alamo Drafthouse’s Rolling Roadshow has joined the cause; together they’ll host an outdoor screening at the motel on July 9.

Special guest Robert Musgrave, better known as getaway driver Bob Mapplethorpe (“I think there’s a real air of mystery about me”), will be in attendance, and there will also be limited edition posters from Mondo on sale commemorating the event.

As of this writing, rooms are still available for the booking. Why not stay overnight and hatch your own Dignan-like schemes: “Here are just a few of the key ingredients: dynamite, pole vaulting, laughing gas, choppers – can you see how incredible this is going to be? – hang gliding, come on!”
