In honor of this week’s engagement of Point Blank Violet Crown Cinema owner Bill Banowsky wanted to bring back what he described in an email as his “favorite French thriller of all time” It’s hard to argue with his good taste. This 2001 film was directed by Jacques Audiard, who is also responsible for directing the film that was my No. 1 pick on my 2010 Top 10 list: A Prophet. In Read My Lips a disrespected secretary who’s in her mid-30s and wears hearing aids in both ears teams up with her younger, handsome, unskilled but streetwise new assistant to pull a heist that relies on their unique assets.
