You may recall filmmaker Clay Liford‘s viral hit “My Mom Smokes Weed,” and that time that it was stolen from him by an Internet thief.
Liford has moved on from that traumatic experience, and has been expanding his short film “Slash” into a feature film. The story of high school kid Neil, who has a predilection for crafting erotic fan fiction, Liford’s comedy has been mostly shot, but he has started a Kickstarter in order to finish the film, or more specifically, to bring Neil’s erotic sci-fi fantasies to life. Liford’s goal is $45,000, with his deadline set for Sept. 25 (Chronicle Editor Louis Black is a producer on the film). But this week, a mysterious benefactor stepped in to match the donations dollar for dollar (up to $1500) for everything Liford gets by the end of the day today (Friday, Sept. 4).
