Good news on the distribution front for two locally produced docs.
First Run Features has acquired local outfit Beef & Pie Productions‘ (“Growin’ a Beard”) documentary Man on a Mission: Richard Garriott’s Road to the Stars, which premiered at SXSW 2010 and went home with an audience award. The Austin Film Society will host a premiere on Jan. 5, with the film embarking on a theatrical run in mid-January.
Meanwhile Kino Lorber will start showing Mark S. Hall‘s Sushi: The Global Catch nationally early next year. It has its European premiere this week at International Documentary Film Festival in Amsterdam.
What do these two films have in common well, besides being Austin-born and award-winning? Composer Brian Satterwhite scored both films.
Update: Sushi director Mark Hall informs us of another connection: Catie Cacci edited both films. Small town, eh? Our hats off to Catie, too.
