Profiled in this documentary are David Friedman and Dan Sonney, legendary old-time purveyors of cinematic sleaze and exploitation. These producers ñ individually and together ñ produced what were called nudie cuties, which later gave way to the S&M roughies. During the Sixties, they moved on to grindhouse fare and produced some of the best work of maestro Herschell Gordon Lewis. The documentary provides volumes of movie lore and a fascinating look at how the benign understanding of their straight-arrow families assisted them in mastering their life’s work.
