Los Premios, you ask?

Hosted by local Univision affiliate KAKW, Los Premios Texas is the music awards show that originates in Austin, but is transmitted to Univision carriers across the nation, making Premios Texas the only nationally televised awards show to originate from Austin.

Premios Texas will be presented live on Thursday, Aug. 12 at the Long Center.

The general public can win tickets to the event through one of Univision’s Austin platforms: Tune into Univision 62 Austin, Univision Radio’s La Que Buena 104.3 FM and La Jefa 107.7 and listen for a chance to call in for tix. Go to www.premiostexas.com and register for a drawing, or log onto Twitter (@premiostexas) or the Premios Texas page on Facebook.

Just to warm things up, a free, pre-concert will take place on Wednesday, Aug. 11 at the Long Center’s City Terrace, from 5pm to 10pm. Ticket giveaways for the big event on the 12th will also be handed out then.

Heading-up the list of nominees is Mexican pop star, songwriter and producer, Aleks Syntek; GRAMMY® award-winning Latin rock band Ozomatli; Austin-based Vitera, Puerto Rican reggaetoneros Angel y Khriz and Venezuelan reggaeton duo Chino y Nacho, who with a three-year career have already gained momentum with their hit single “Niña Bonita.” These artists will perform along with previously announced artists Diana Reyes, Ana Isabel, Pee Wee, and Christina.
