Genesis
1999, NR, 102 min.
Directed by Cheick Oumar Sissoko, Starring Sotigui Kouyaté, Salif Keita, Balla Boussa Keita.
Inspired by the story of Jacob and Esau from the book of Genesis, Sissoko casts the story from an African perspective. It’s a tale of bitter sibling rivalry that tears apart clans and engulfs everyone in an unending cycle of violence. The film makes striking use of the African landscape.
