Flicker No. 4 is the latest installment of the bimonthly film festival that features short films by local and national filmmakers who submit works via mail. Flicker guarantees an array of projects and intriguing juxtapositions at every screening, with linear narratives butting up against radical experiments, polished productions followed by earnest first efforts. All films are under 15 minutes in length and originate on film. All admission proceeds go toward the Flicker Film Grant, which awards $100 to a deserving local filmmaker at each and every Flicker. Among this month’s highlights are Beat soliloquies, a Desert Storm documentary, and an action-figure sendup of Beverly Hills 90210. See www.flickeraustin.com for info and directions and feature story on p.46 in this week’s Screens section.
