Fitzcarraldo
1982, PG, 158 min.
Directed by Werner Herzog, Starring Klaus Kinski, Claudia Cardinale.

One of German director Werner Herzog’s best, the film tells the epic story of a man with a vision of building an opera house in the middle of the Peruvian jungle – a dream that also requires hauling a steamship across a mountain with the help of the indigenous locals. The making of the film was so epic in itself that it also became the subject of Les Blank’s documentary Burden of Dreams.
