Between casting tomorrow and a found footage fest next month, there should be plenty to keep you in touch with the screens world this Thanksgiving season.
• We got word from the casting folks at Pale Blue Dot (the Jason Reitman vehicle starring Adam Sandler and Jennifer Garner we wrote about last week) that they’re doing an open casting call for paid extras in Georgetown this Sunday, Nov. 24. It runs from 1 to 6pm at the Georgetown Parks and Recreation Administrative Building (1101 N. College St.). Smile pretty and say we sent you.
• Deadline Hollywood reported this week that the team behind Hemlock Grove are at it again. Under the banner of ShineBox SMC, Michener Center for Writers alumni Brian McGreevy and Lee Shipman are taking on the work of one of their brethren – Philipp Meyer’s The Son – for a limited series adaptation. Meanwhile, Hemlock Grove is filming its second season for Netflix, and Shinebox got the rights to Michener alumna Domenica Ruta’s memoir as well.
• It’s the holiday season, and Everything Is Terrible. No, hear us out: The EIT holiday tour is making a stop in Austin for a one-night screening of their latest found footage disasterpiece, starring “a millennium’s worth of VHS memories of misplaced sentimentalities, fist fights over toys for tots, erotic Santas, Nazi elves, and an endless parade of singing kids.” Watch the trailer below, and look for them in their winter wonderland at the Marchesa Hall & Theatre on Friday, Dec. 6.
