Aiming to be more than just a movie, this short documentary is billed as an “IMAX Experience.” Cameras soar with the fighter jets and pilots who have come to Red Flag, an elite, two-week, combat training exercise at Nellis Air Force Base in Nevada. This top-gun experience focuses on Capt. John C. Stratton, whose earthbound memories of his grandfather’s flying legacy serve as filler against the magnificent aerial footage. Made with assistance from the U.S. Air Force and distributed by Boeing, the film’s dogfights and maneuvers seem more like giant war-game simulations than direct recruiting propaganda.
