You may know him as the Meanest Critic in America™ but the Chronicle‘s Marc Savlov actually has a lot of love to give – especially to underseen cult and fringe films. Starting Jan. 21, he’ll host a new monthly program called Feral Cinema alongside fellow series architects Charles Lieurance of I Luv Video (hey, happy 25th, guys!) and Andy Gately of the Austin Underground Film Society. Expect a sort of multimedia viewing party with cheap drinks. First up: Who Is KK Downey?, the 2008 Canadian festival film inspired by the hip-lit-con-artist JT LeRoy.

Feral Cinema kicks off Thursday, Jan. 21, 8pm at the United States Art Authority. Admission is $5. For more info, visit www.feralcinema.com.
