The Cine las Americas International Film Festival announced today that Executive Director Eugenio del Bosque will be stepping down from his position on Oct. 17. Del Bosque has been in the position for six years; he first joined CLAIFF in 2002 as Program Director.
In a separate email to Cine las Americas newsletter subscribers, del Bosque expressed thanks and waved goodbye. “Working for this organization has been one of the greatest experiences in my life,” he wrote, “and the many stories of success and satisfaction that I take with me would not have been possible without your involvement and support.”
During del Bosque’s tenure, CLAIFF expanded its programming and turned a spotlight on emergent and underrepresented filmmakers. In his email, he encouraged continued support for the festival and signaled he wasn’t severing ties:
“In a time of transition, a small organization like Cine Las Americas needs all the support it can get, so I encourage you to stay involved with the film festival and the organization’s year-round programs at this important time of renewal and change. … The Board of Directors will remain in charge of the organization’s operations, and I will serve in an advisory capacity.”
The 2015 edition of Cine Las Americas will take place in April.
