Not reviewed at press time. Che Guevara, the handsome, bearded, and bereted Sixties poster boy for the radical left, is coming into vogue again with a spate of new biographical books and movies about to take center stage. This documentary focuses on the last year of Guevara’s life during which he struggled to launch a Communist revolution in Bolivia. This comrade of Fidel Castro was executed in Bolivia in 1967. While the images survey the sites where Guevara and his troops camped in the Bolivian mountains, excerpts from the diary he kept are read aloud in English. The Texas Documentary Tour is sponsored by the Austin Film Society, the UT Department of RTF, The Austin Chronicle, KLRU-TV, and SXSW film.
