One of those movies that almost defines the term “cult film,” this is the debut film by the twisted Lynch who also brought us Twin Peaks and Wild at Heart. Eraserhead was made back when Lynch could still be called an experimental filmmaker. All that means is that there are lots of truly repugnant images here. Are they human or are they “other”? Not even their mutant baby knows for sure.
