Wilder clocked another classic with this quintessential femme-fatale story about a pair of lovers who bump off the woman’s husband for the insurance money. It’s Fred MacMurray like you’ve never seen him (if you only know him from My Three Sons), and Barbara Stanwyck, whose gams you, too, would follow anywhere once you caught sight of her gorgeous ankles … as the camera does in its initial low-angle introduction of her character.
