Contrary to what the marketing campaign would have you believe, Hawn doesn’t expose much in the way of range here. For emotions that cannot be expressed with a giggle, say fear, confusion, sadness, vulnerability, Hawn makes do by biting her lower lip. She’s well matched by Heard who conveys nothing whatsoever. For a love story, the characters are insufferable and for a thriller, it is predictable.
