Chloe Moretz in remake Let Me In

A word of caution to Matt Reeves, whose English-language remake of Let the Right One In has just been announced as Fantastic Fest’s opening night film: Do not eff this up.

Let the Right One In is pretty beloved in these parts, and believe you me – you do not want to upset this crowd. Seriously. The geeks will eat you alive.

But let’s give him the benefit of the doubt, eh? Actually, we’ll go even more full-throated than that to say we’re cautiously rather excited. Web reaction to the trailer (see below) has been positive – bonus points for taking a cue from the original’s moody lighting and wan faces – and Film School Rejects, who had a man at Reeves’ Comic Con panel, filed this encouraging report.

Reeves, who previously directed Cloverfield, will be in attendance for Let Me In’s Sept. 23 U.S. premiere, along with along with the cast, which includes Kick Ass breakout star Chloe Moretz, The Road’s Kodi Smit-McPhee, Elias Koteas, and Richard Jenkins.
