Filmmaking book: My Last Sigh by Luis Buñuel, because he has a way of seeing through things that’s appealing.

Influential book: That’s easy, it’s The Philosophy of Andy Warhol by Andy Warhol. This book is hilarious! Warhol is a pretty unassuming artist, and this book is a must. It’s said he didn’t write it, exactly, and that it’s composed of snatches of phone calls, scribbled aphorisms, and a few genuine items. It’s worth owning to my mind. If I only owned one book, this would be it.

Dream adaptation: I’d like to make a Teddy Roosevelt movie with Nick Offerman, based on Theodore Rex, the second book of Edmund Morris’ trilogy. To say Nick Offerman was born to play this role is to be fitted for a hat that says Commander Obvious.

Bob Byington’s latest film is 7 Chinese Brothers, which is currently streaming on Netflix.
