There are only a few things you need to know about this movie. I hate to start off with the negatives, but: 1) Unless you are taking a child, there is absolutely no reason you should put yourself through this almost perfectly mindless exercise in canine celebration (exception: if your favorite comic strip is Marmaduke, this may be the movie for you). 2) If you are considering taking your child, you should absolutely not do so unless you either have a dog, or are prepared to procure one immediately upon leaving the theatre. 3) On the plus side, Dean Jones is swell as the gravelly-voiced evil veterinarian; he brings every bit as much depth to the role as he did to the romantic leads in Disney classics like That Darn Cat and Monkeys, Go Home!
