This first feature by the guiding spirit of Brazil’s Cinema Novo movement, Glauber Rocha, is a neorealist story about the exploitation of a Bahia fishing village. The film was initially banned by the Brazilian government. Cinematographer Nancy Schiesari of the UT RTF Dept. will lead a post-screening discussion.
