While the Alamo Drafthouse chain has been busy the last couple of years opening new theatres hither and yon across the U.S.A., moviegoers back home in Austin finally have something new to cheer about: the reopening of the renovated Alamo South Lamar location, along with the relocation and reopening of its side-by-side neighbor, the HighBall cocktail bar and karaoke lounge, both closed since January 2013. The renovation has raised the square footage to nearly double its former size, upped the number of screens to nine, increased the on-site parking, and outdone itself on the various themed karaoke rooms. Join Richard Whittaker as he takes us on a guided tour in our online photo gallery, “The New Alamo Drafthouse South Lamar.”
