Baby Day

The 1:30pm show each Tuesday on every screen at the Alamo North has been specially designated for babies and their adult chaperones. It’s not so much an event for babies as it is an oasis for their parents. These will be screenings in which the infants are welcome to exercise their lungs and make a stink. The idea actually is an adaptation of an old idea made new. Back in the olden days, way before multiplexes and partitioning, movie theatres would commonly have soundproofed balcony enclosures called “crying rooms,” to which parents could escape with their squawking bundles of joy while continuing to watch the movie without disturbing the other patrons. Everybody’s happy. This Alamo doesn’t have separate crying rooms, but a designated baby show is the next best thing.
