The Austin Jewish Film Festival announced the lineup for its 23rd year. The renowned festival returns November 2-12 for in-person events at the Dell Jewish Community Campus and November 13-19 for online screenings and Q&As representing filmmakers from the Jewish diaspora.
On Thursday, Nov. 2, the opening night entertainment is the Central Texas premiere of Remembering Gene Wilder, directed by Ron Frank. AJFF will provide drinks, food, and music to enjoy while remembering the beloved comedian and actor from such classics as Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory and Young Frankenstein.
1341 Frames of Love and War has its Texas premiere with an interview afterward with director Ran Tal. Showcasing one of Israel’s most important photographers, Micha Bar Am, audience members will get to see 75 years of Israeli history unfold.
If you’re in the mood for more narrative fare, My Daughter My Love has its U.S. premiere and centers on a 70-year-old widowed father and his daughter discovering they share a similar dream. An interview with writer and director Eitan Green will be played after the film.
Festivalgoers complete their cinephile journey on Sunday, Nov. 12 with closing night film No Name Restaurant, co-directed and co-written by Stefan Sarazin and Peter Keller. Lead actor Luzer Twersky will be on hand after the film to take questions.
