The third annual Austin Heart of Film Festival and Screenwriters Conference
takes place this weekend, Oct. 10-13, at the Driskill Hotel and various other
screening venues around town. In a very brief amount of time, the conference
has grown into one of the most impressive gatherings of screenwriters and
working filmmakers anywhere. The daytime panels and workshops are complemented
by a schedule of evening screenings that cover a range of material: premieres,
retrospective screenings with the filmmakers in attendance, and competitive
showcases. Another highlight promises to be Saturday night’s Indie Filmmakers
Panel with The Usual Suspects‘ Bryan Singer and Christopher McQuarrie,
Whit Stillman (Metropolitan, Barcelona), and Robert Townsend
(Hollywood Shuffle, The Five Heartbeats). Included here is the complete

Film festival passes good for admission to all the film screenings
listed here cost $20 and are on sale at Waterloo Records. Individual tickets
are available at the box office.
Walk-up registration for the entire conference is $375 at the door. Student
registration (with proof of current college or university enrollment) is $175.
Registration includes the Screenwriter’s Conference, access to the
Screenwriter’s Exhibition Hall, admittance to all film festival screenings, and
invitations to the AHFF happy-hour reception and closing-night party.
