You’ve seen Avatar – probably more than once, now that a special edition is kicking around theatres – and now you can hear the stories behind the spectacle at a talk tonight with film designers TyRuben Ellingson and Yuri Bartoli.
Ellingson was the lead vehicle designer and Bartoli the supervising visual art director for James Cameron’s blue-hued behemoth. They’ll be giving a presentation tonight (8/30), called From Art School to Avatar, at El Sol y Luna (600 E. Sixth St.) at 6:30pm. The event is the first in a series called 2.0 presented by Austin-based production company luzworks, and luzworks founder Jonathan de la Luz tells us the evening will also include a special announcement about an upcoming Austin-based project.
Admission is free, but if you can’t make it out of the house, the event will be streaming live starting at 7pm here.
