As if SXSW weren’t enough to logjam your schedule for the next couple of weeks, there’s a brace of upstart special screenings, micro-fests, and happenings running concurrently to the official SXSW Film Festival. If all those barbecue spreads around town leave you with a hankering for more dead meat, chances are you’ll dig the flesh-eater-themed Zombiedance 2002 mini-fest, Saturday, March 9, 9pm, at Beerland (7111/2 Red River), featuring a handful of films devoted to the notion that meat is murder, and murder is fun! More info: www.flojo.com/zombiedance/… There’s also the SoCo Fringe Festival, beginning at sunset, Monday, March 11, in the parking lot of Jo’s Hot Coffee (1300 S. Congress), featuring five previously unreleased films in categories such as animation, documentary, trailer, etc. The coffee’s great, and the films are likely to be as well. More info: 441-6127… Finally, Monday, March 11, at 8pm, the Kustom Kino Kommandos will initiate what is expected to be a weekly film event at Cafe Mundi (1704 E. Fifth).
