This too shall pass, this beast known as SXSW, but not before you’ve gotten a good dose of it via local television.

As noted last week, Austin Community Access Center (ACAC) will provide exclusive live television coverage of South by Southwest’s Interactive/Film Trade Show. That cablecast is scheduled for Sunday, March 15 and Monday, March 16, 1-5pm, and Tuesday March 17, 1-3pm (Ch 10, ACAC) from the ACAC booth on the Convention Center floor. Monsterbit Media (http://www.monsterbit.com) will be webcasting the trade show simultaneously on the Internet.

The folks down at the Austin Music Network (AM15), meanwhile, have been working their collective asses off to bring viewers 27 hours of new programming during SXSW week, including nine hours of live shows. Live programming will begin on Wednesday (3/18, 7:55pm) with a cablecast of the 16th annual Austin Music Awards from the Austin Music Hall. The Music Network’s weekly daytime show Reality, with hosts Darcie Fromholz and Tim Hamblin, is slated for two special editions (3/17-3/20, noon; AM15), and two hour-long episodes of Check This Action with host Jenn Garrison (3/19 and 3/20, 4pm; AM15) will also beam from the Convention Center. That’s where I get to climb back into the CTA saddle again � I’ll be joining the lovely Ms. Garrison as her co-host. If you’re in the Convention Center at SXSW during Reality or CTA, stop by and watch the taping. We’ll all need a Reality Check at that point.

Tired of hearing about SXSW? So am I. Next week, guest columnist Barbara Chisholm gives her pre-Oscars commentary about the one thing we really watch the show for � fashion. (Watch out, Joan Rivers!) For those of us suffering the slings and arrows of Time Warner’s outrageous decision to deprive its inner-city viewers of E!TV, Chisholm will provide scintillating fashioncast for the evening (I’ve already peeked at her column and spewed a mouthful of Coke into the keyboard.)
