The Alamo Drafthouse has an opening date for its new theatre in Circle C.

The eight-screen venue, dubbed Alamo Slaughter (it’s located at the corner of MoPac and Slaughter Lane), is set to open on March 22. The news follows last week’s announcement of an Alamo Drafthouse putting down stakes in Loudoun County, Virginia, in the “DC market area” (a claim our geographically persnickety pal likened to saying that Salado was in Austin).

Also undergoing construction at the Slaughter site is 400 Rabbits, an adjacent cocktail lounge cut in the mold of the Drafthouse’s super-successful the Highball, but with an Aztec theme. Alamo executive chef John Bullington and beverage director Bill Norris have apparently been traveling far and wide – Norris went to Jalisco last year to learn about tequila – and 400 Rabbits will pair snacks inspired by Latin American street food with a tequila-heavy drink menu. Mouth watering yet? The Alamo will host a 5-course tasting menu on Feb. 4; you can purchase one of the extremely limited tickets at the Highball website now.
