Lazy river enthusiasts are already plenty used to making the hourlong trek to New Braunfels – hottest coolest time in Texas, y’all – but the Alamo Drafthouse is serving up another reason to road trip southwesterly with the announcement of a new theatre.

The Drafthouse is teaming up with Reel Dinner Partners to take over an existing 35,000 square foot space located in the Marketplace Shopping Center, half a mile south of I-35 and Highway 46. Remodeling begins this summer, with an expected opening of operations in the fall.

Alamo Drafthouse New Braunfels Marketpace will have eleven screens, naturally tricked out with high-tech projection and offering the same dine-in experience and eclectic programming that’s turned the Drafthouse into a national brand. Following in the steps of other theatre-adjacent bars like the Alamo South’s HighBall and Alamo Slaughter’s 400 Rabbits, the Alamo Marketplace theatre will keep patrons well-lubricated with lounge Glass Half Full.

This isn’t even the first expansion announcement of the week: On Tuesday, the Drafthouse revealed plans to open a theatre in El Paso.
